Hi Northside Family. This is our very first blog post for the Gospel Primer, and it just happens to be my first blog endeavor too. Here goes!

Maybe a good place to start is by asking the question, "Why are we doing this...?

With each new heading in this little book, we are reminded just how important it is to really know what the Gospel is. In just these few weeks of reading so far we have seen that it is the Gospel that is: the power of God, our daily protection, the glory of God that transforms us, a cure for our distrust of God, and our sufficiency by which God makes us what He wants us to be. Is it any wonder that the enemy works without ceasing to keep us from the gospel. Paul warned the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, "And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of God." The New Testament is replete with warnings about false teachers and those who would take us away from the Gospel. The book of Galatians, for example, is soley devoted to calling the Galatians back to the true Gospel. What should we make of this? We should recognize that we are in a war, and the stakes are high--men's souls. Let us be sure to arm ourselves with the Gospel, or as the writer of Hebrews says, "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;"

I would love to hear what you are learning from this little book, and it may just be that what you are learning will help others to hold fast.
